Welcome to me! I am a theatre maker with a passion for new works. I am a director, but also a writer, educator, and occasional performer. My ability to take risks and learn from all aspects of life allows me to think rationally in times of high pressure, and to always look at things with optimism and a smile on my face. Much of my work embraces magical realism, performances with music, and things that, frankly, just excite me.
I was born in Denver, Colorado, but grew up in sunny South Florida. I began my love affair with theatre at age 4, performing at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts in its production of Macbeth in Space (yes, really). After moving to Florida, I began doing theatre at my elementary school and soon fell in love with the local theatre scene as well. In 2014 I began taking classes at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, and after almost a decade with the program as a student, teacher, educator, and intern, I learned more about the different roles that make up a theatre, and which role I want to play.
In 2019, my one-act play entitled The Right Way was selected and performed by the South Florida Theatre League, an honor I am eternally thankful for.
In fall of 2020, I began my journey as a director, beginning with a melodrama at my high school entitled A New Commedia D'ell Arte in which I served as Assistant Director. From there, I continued to assistant-direct both in high school and at the Broward Center. Working administratively at the Broward Center on Music Theater International Pilot Productions helped me discover that directing and devising were indeed my passion, and that I needed to pursue that.
In 2021, I began my higher education at Carnegie Mellon University, where I currently study Directing within the prestigious John Wells Directing Program in the School of Drama. I expect to graduate in 2025. So nice to meet you! Addie
